From 2000-2011, Joe was President of Octagon Process Inc. (now part of Clariant Corp), a global leader in the manufacturing and distribution of “Propylene Glycol” based aircraft wing and runway deicing fluids with a 47% market share at the time of his exit. From 1996 to 2000, Joe sold & distributed propylene glycol for Lyondell Chemical Co., formerly Arco Chemical Co. His dream and vision for founding Ayas Renewables continues today, and that is to bring a “biorenewable” propylene glycol-based airplane deicing fluid to market replacing current petrochemical based deicing fluids. Joe has a BA in History from the University of Delaware.

Dr. William Sutterlin
CTO
Dr. Sutterlin’s expertise is in chemical production, analysis, and planning. He has received organizational, local, state and federal recognition for his work, including being a recipient of the prestigious US Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award for Ayas’ glycerin to propylene glycol technology. As a chemist and chemical engineer, he has experience in trouble shooting, interpretation and method development with analytical instruments and process development. His research interests include the conversion of agricultural products (corn, soybean, animal fats, algae, plant and animal wastes and cellulosic materials) and other biomass materials into higher value-added chemicals. He is part of the United States and Brazil research collaboration in biomass conversion. Dr. Sutterlin completed his PhD in Chemistry and PostDoc in Chemical Engineering at the University of Missouri.

David Malone

David is responsible for our capital needs and planning our path for project financing and execution. He has worked for numerous private equity, venture capital and hedge funds with 11 years of experience in Greater China. Prior to moving to Asia in 2004, David founded DoMondo Café AG (Switzerland) and DoMondo Café Inc. (USA), wholesale coffee companies with distribution and customers in more than 30 US states at time of exit. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, he worked for Citibank Global Finance and Citibank Private Bank in Zurich, Switzerland. David completed his MBA at the Wharton School (WG03) and his BS in Corporate Finance and Investment Management at the University of Alabama. David also studied at INSEAD (Singapore), NYU, and QUT (Brisbane).

Juan Chedrauy

Juan is responsible for our feedstock sourcing and business development in Latin America. Prior to Ayas, Juan founded Chevall, S.A., a petrochemical distribution company, purchasing and selling diesel fuel as well as founded a US real estate service company managing 500 properties. Juan previously served as Executive Director in Panama Power Group, a boutique advisory firm with clients in both the public and private sectors and has worked in Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay with projects spanning precious metals, mining, defense, and real estate. Juan has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Mark is a co-founder of Ayas and instrumental in Ayas’ patent portfolio strategy. Mark has co-authored more than 100 patents. Mark previously served as COO of Socati Corp, a producer of cannabinoids, and is a board member of Inventure Renewables, an applied technology development company leveraging patented Mixed Super Critical Fluid technology. From 2003 to 2005, Mark was President and General Manager of Pacific Fluids LLC a specialty chemical manufacturer focused on aircraft deicing fluid manufacturing, acid/base reactions, runway salts, petroleum terminal services, and petroleum rail/truck fleet distribution. From 1998 to 2001, he was VP of Lilyblad Petroleum, Inc. a Pacific Northwest specialty chemical manufacturing andpetroleum terminal. Mark has a BA from the University of Washington.

Mr. Berry is the chief scientist at K-Technologies. Mr. Berry has over 30 years of chemical engineering experience from advanced ester processing to uranium recovery. He holds 23 patents and has extensive knowledge of ion exchange and pre-treatment process technologies and catalytic reactions and esterification, all critical steps in the Ayas patented process.
